Peddle Go Carts Cost to purchase up to £400 each
Activity
Groups burn off some of their excess energy on our peddle go carts, we would ideally like six carts that can race around the rack.
Project
We need a team of people to create the track and suggest fundraising activity that will raise the money to buy the peddle go arts
Trebuchet Cost to set up £200++
Activity
Following the instructions re build this down scaled fifteenth-century military weapon used for hurling heavy rocks and also build a fortress with the blocks provided. Then test the Trebuchet by firing water bombs at your fortress and try and knock it down.
Project
This project is perhaps the one with the most room for manoeuvre, depending on your time and budget. The fortress on the island could be elaborate and a playing area all of it’s own and the trebuchet a simple affair or something that really does look medieval – this is one where your creativity can really fly.
Catapult Building Cost to set up £250
Activity
Build a micro catapult from the materials provided. Then test all the designs and then build the most successful catapult out of the larger poles and ropes and try to launch the ball to the Island with it
Project
Assemble the props needed to construct a catapult and write child friendly laminated hints and tips on successful construction.
Orienteering Cost to set up £250
Activity
A large orienteering course could be set up in Quarry Woods all the compasses and instructions are provided the course should not cross any streams or roads. Radios are provided to each team up to 6 teams going around in groups of two or more. Successful completion will be arriving
at the start/finish point within the time scale and all the letters in the grid complete allowing you crack the code that will open a treasure chest
Project
We don’t make enough use of the woods next to us and our little orienteering course is very popular but not really that challenging, the woods would be a fantastic course but needs someone good with maps and compasses to create and then provide radios, instructions and one of those treasure chests again (with clear instructions to those setting up the course, where to plant the chest!)
Cane Tower Cost to set up £200
Activity
Team would be split into two groups and each group provided with half the materials provided. The challenge is to follow the instructions and build the highest cane tower possible just using the canes and rubber bands.

Getting together the materials and producing instructions.
Water Wheel Cost to set up £150
Activity
Construct a water wheel from the materials provided then test it works in the river using the turning motion to the water wheel and wind the reel of string in.
Project
Assemble the props needed to construct a water wheel and information about how such a wheel works. Create child friendly laminated hints and tips on successful construction.
Micro Card Board Kayaking Build and Race Cost to set up £100
Activity
Design and build your own micro kayak from the materials provided it must be able to carry the block of wood inside having tested it floats place all the boats on the water and see which one goes the furthest down the river
Project
Assemble the cardboard, waterproofing and ropes needed to construct a cardboard canoe and write child friendly laminated hints and tips on successful construction.
River Dipping Kits Cost to set up £150
Activity
Using the supplied river dipping kit take samples from the river from the three different locations marked on the map and discover what varying results and mini beasts you find.
Project
Make dipping kits, find and mark suitable locations, create maps that show locations. Create information sheets on the sort of things you might find.
