What We Do

We will maximise the benefits and contribution of the county to the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games ensuring a lasting sporting legacy.

We will create a ‘Single system’ for sport. Where all agencies work together collaboratively as a well organised network to make best use of resources, clarify roles and responsibilities, share agreed vision and strategy for sport, develop clear pathways into and through sport, and develop a single access point for sport services.

We will create an Excellent Partnership organisation driven by a commitment to continuous improvement and which is customer and athlete centred, driven by coaches and teachers and supported by managers and administrators with shared values and underpinning principles.

We will create an effective network including District Sports and Physical Activity Networks and School Sports Partnerships creating a needs based bottom up-top down process.

We will create strategic links which deliver tangible results with agencies for which sport and physical activity can play a significant role in encouraging participation by under-represented groups and contributing to wider social outcomes such as the development of safer and stronger communities, a healthier population, education, skills and lifelong learning and contributing to a more vibrant economy and skilled workforce.

We will develop a well managed and supported sports workforce including paid and voluntary teachers, coaches, officials, facility staff and development practitioners.

We will Widen Access › where the benefits of sport are equally accessible to everyone and to act proactively to increase participation by under represented groups. We will make a step change in the provision and uptake of opportunities for people with disabilities.

We will encourage all of the population to be more physically active in their everyday lives, from recreational cycling, walking and swimming; cycling and walking to work or school, activity in the home or workplace and participation in informal recreational sport for enjoyment and health and personal benefits.

We will create clear Pathways in Sport including:

Early Years all young people in Bucks to be more active and ‘physically literate’ with the basic skills, commitment, confidence and awareness to continue participation.
PE, School Sport & Club links › all students in Bucks accessing more high quality PE and school sport and effective links
between schools and clubs e.g. club links programmes

Clubs a network of high quality clubs providing safe and high quality opportunities for all to participate, compete and
improve e.g. club accreditation & support services.

Competition & Events appropriate, high quality coaching and competition in school and community settings to encourage increased and sustained participation in sport.

Talent ID & Development clear pathways, fairer and wider identification processes and athlete centred and coach driven talent development programmes in line with NGB
and LTAD frameworks.

16+ sustained participation in Further and higher education and the community, reducing drop off beyond school years and improving transition from junior to senior sport and lifelong participation.
