| Alfriston School were awarded Sports College status earlier this year, reflecting their outstanding commitment to enabling all their pupils to take part in and enjoy physical activity. In addition to delivering high quality PE lessons, the PE department provides three lunchtime sports clubs everyday. Activities include mainstream sports such as netball, dodgeball and gymnastics, as well as the every popular tap and ballroom dancing classes. With sport playing such a large role in the life of the school, pupils endeavour to become sports leaders and helpers, many of them | getting involved in the running of the lunchtime activities as well as school sporting events and local sports festivals. Pupils are keen to socialise within their peer groups both in and outside school. However this doesn’t curb their steely determination for success: this year the pupils excelled at the Bucks Youth Games; have helped represent the Horizon Disability Sports Club in major competitions; have swelled the ranks of the local Penn & Tylers Green Karate Club and become netball champions in national competition. |

| Denbigh School was praised in a recent OFSTED report for achieving a 98% attendance rate in PE. It takes PE seriously, carefully auditing everything ranging from which sports are most popular to which sports pupils compete in both in and out of school. The school has also built strong links with local clubs - such as Milton Keynes City Football Club, Shenley Scorpions Basketball and Shenley Leisure Centre Squash - enabling them to build their membership with talented young recruits in return for good quality coaching and the use of excellent facilities. | The school’s dedication to providing the very best opportunities for ALL its pupils has resulted in a catalogue of successes. These include the U18’s football team winning the County Cup and reaching the quarter finals of the All England Schools Football Championship this year, as well as many of its pupils representing England in their chosen sport. Overall, this year, the school competed in 348 matches and 60 tournaments - with a record of 255 wins - richly deserving its title of Sport MK Sports Achiever of the Year in the Schools Section. |

| At Sir William Borlase an average of 82% of pupils take part in three hours of PE and school sport per week, with new sports clubs at the school including fencing, boys’ hip hop, cheerleading, boxercise and girls’ rugby. The dance department has grown to five clubs including ballet, contemporary, partner dance and hip hop. Participation of students in sports clubs linked to the school has risen from 57% to 76% for Years 7 to 11. Successes for the school this year include winning various rowing medals including two Gold Medals, |
one Silver Medal and one Bronze Medal at the international Coupe de la Jeunesse event. The U14- U18’s teams have won nine national school medals for rowing and the girls’ cricket team won both the indoor and outdoor county finals. The high performance of these pupils isn’t confined to sport. All the while the pupils have been making time for their academic studies in GCSE and A’ Level PE, with nearly 100% achieving an A/A*. There is a great commitment and attitude to sport within the school. |
