UnLtd support individuals with bright ideas and have £1 000 000 to give over the next two years! As well as cash, UnLtd also provide a support package for successful applicants including one to one support, practical training and the chance to network with other Award Winners.
The scheme was launched in June and UnLtd are currently in the process of promoting it to organisations that work with volunteers and youth.
Please forward this information around to your colleagues and any community groups that you work with who may know of a young individual who is ready to get going with their own project.
UnLtd would be happy to come to an event that is running in order to talk to people about the Award.
There are two age categories within the award:
- In the 11 – 16 age group (awards of up to £500), applicants are legally obliged to have a project advisor (a parent, youth worker, mentor etc). This advisor would actually complete the application form for the 11 – 16 year old, sign the terms and conditions and more than likely be the one who receives the award in to their bank account. We still expect the young person working with the advisor to have a significant degree of ownership of the project and to have come up with some ideas for the project in the first place.
- In the 17 – 21 age group (awards of up to £5000), applicants do not need to have an advisor and complete the form themselves. However, if they were under 18 they would need a letter of permission for them to undertake the project from a parent or guardian. UnLtd would still expect that a 17 – 21 year old would have the support of a mentor or sports coach from an existing club. However, the young person would be much more involved in the logistics of the project and receive the award money into their bank account.
Attached is a flyer, the application materials can be downloaded from the website www.unltd.org.uk/sportreliefawards
