The Bucks County Under 15 Boys hockey team finished their season in style, beating championship winners Surrey 3-1 and Sussex 5-2, to finish 3rd overall in the South County Championships. The team, pictured in their new kit sponsored by Premier Windows, also finished ahead of all the other teams from the South East, rating them the top team for this region.
The Bucks team has progressed well since the beginning of the championships and their enthusiasm and skill showed through in their final two matches. Surrey, the favourites and ultimate winners of the championship, came out strong in their game, but were taken by surprise by some slick passing and powerful attacks by the young Bucks side. The Bucks side took the lead, and although Surrey equalised, Bucks showed their true ability, out playing the Surrey side to win 3-1. In their 2nd game, and buoyed by their success against Surrey, Bucks took on Sussex with a new found confidence and determination. Again, showing some good teamwork the Bucks side beat the visitors 5-2. Scorers across the two games were Liam Ansell (5), Chas Richardson, Cameron Salisbury and Tom Corkett.
The Championship saw Bucks play 7 games in all, with highlights and moments of excellence from across the whole squad, but especially keeper Lee Elliott who consistently delivered excellent saves to keep the squad in many of the games. The Championships saw Bucks draw against Kent, lose to Hampshire and Middlesex and win against Surrey, Oxon, Berks and Sussex.
Coach/Manager Duncan Parnis presented the end of season awards, with Top Goal Scorer, Managers player and Players player going to Charlie Ollie and the Most Improved player going to Josh Mardell.
The Under 15 squad selected for the 2007/2008 season was: Liam Ansell, Tom Ashton, Dan Ashton, Joe Bennion, Andy Blood, Josh Booker, Guy Brockless, Sam Burroughs, Lewis Child, Tom Corkett, Lee Elliott, Harry Kilbourn, Josh Mardell, Dan Maunder, Charlie Olley, Fin Potter, Chas Richardson, Cameron Salisbury, Doug Stevens, Alex Thompson, Josh Timmins, Mark Tofte, Christy Walklin and Alex Williams.
