The six week ‘Badminton for Fitness’ pilot project came to an end in February. The joint project between Bucks Sport, Milton Keynes Council and the Stop Smoking Agency was set up to use sport as a way to encourage people to give up smoking and ‘get fitter’.
The sessions took place at Stantonbury Campus Leisure Centre in Milton Keynes on a Wednesday evening. The participants – who were all female, were able to receive high quality badminton coaching and also meet new people who were in a similar situation to themselves. Over the course of the 6 weeks the ladies showed a vast improvement in fitness and have decided to continue with the sport.
A big well done to all those involved in the project.
Future projects will be set up and run throughout the County during 2007.
