The survey showed that 81% of pupils are now receiving 2 hours high quality PE & School sport against the national target of 75% with all Partnerships showing significant improvement on previous years. The survey also showed that schools are providing an average of nearly 15 sports and have an average of just under 5 links to community clubs, with 29% of pupils involved in community clubs and 6% of pupils actively involved in sports leadership and volunteering.
These results demonstrate the great work being undertaken by partners in Bucks where we now have a complete network of 8 School Sport Partnerships led by Partnership Development Managers with School Sport Co-ordinators in each secondary school supporting PE in their feeder primary schools. Our next challenge is to get 90% of pupils receiving 2 hours High Quality PE by 2008, a ‘stretch’ of the national target of 85% as part of the Bucks & Milton Keynes Local Public Service Agreement Targets.
