StreetGames

StreetGames is sport at a time, place, style and price that are appealing to the local community. The focus is on young people and the aim is to take sport to them, in their communities.

StreetGames projects build the capacity of a neighbourhood so that local people can lead sport.  This involves providing training, mentoring, volunteering opportunities and, in mature projects, jobs for local people.  Projects operate from youth centres, community centres, leisure centres, schools, parks, and open land.  There are many more sports clubs in the suburbs than in deprived areas, and StreetGames recognises the important need to improve the local sporting infrastructure through new groups, teams, leagues, clubs, and in advanced cases, multi-sport clubs.  StreetGames projects are run by a wide variety of local competent agencies, including community organisations, health organisations, non sporting public sector organisations, and local authorities.
