The plans have been produced following the initial EA Planning Day, the identification of needs from those working with young people, the submissions of proposals from those agencies delivering activities for young people and consultation with the SPANs.
We received many fantastic proposals, with many innovative projects, a wide range of activities, coverage across a range of 'semi-sporty' target groups and the involvement of a wide range of delivery partners. We did however receive more proposals than we have the funding for and so some have therefore been included in a scaled down version, or are seeking additional funding or resources from elsewhere. Others are not included at this stage (‘later’ in the spreadsheet), but will be reviewed for inclusion later on or where appropriate we will support the project to seek funding from elsewhere. In addition some costs will be borne centrally to support all projects such as promotional material (‘central costs’). We also recognise that ongoing research is needed to continually build our understanding of young peoples participation levels and interests.
Work is continuing on the plan including discussions with individual projects, but the plans are now fairly well defined, particularly for the first 6 months, and close to our outline budget and target numbers for the year. We have split the plan across each 6 month period and in three categories that have emerged through the discussions:
Specific questions we would encourage you to address include:
· Are there any Gaps? Target groups not identified/catered for? Potential delivery organisations not engaged?
· Duplication? Are there activities aimed at the same activity or target group? Are there activities which could be combined?
· Effectiveness - Are there efficiencies / improvements that can be gained by co-ordinating some activities across projects
