It is the largest multi-sport event for young people in Bucks with around 1,500 participants and 300 volunteers participating from 5 districts across Bucks and Milton Keynes.
The 2008 event will take place at Stantonbury Campus, Woughton on the Green, Bury Lawn School, Kingston Gymnastics Centre and the Stadium:MK and aims to increase the number of young people becoming members of sports clubs and widen access into sport by under represented groups.
Bucks Youth Games will:
“Embracing the Promise of 2012”
By working together, we aim to:
• inspire young people to greater sporting activity and achievement, and to join clubs
• inspire young people with disabilities and raise the profile of disability sport through an inclusive event
• inspire young people to coach, volunteer and officiate in sport
• inspire young people to adopt Olympic values and promote fair play
• widen access to under-represented groups
The Games Framework has been developed by the five local authorities, School Sports Partnerships and Sports Governing Bodies working through the Bucks & Milton Keynes Sports Partnership. Each district within the county works closely with local schools, clubs and coaches to develop a programme of coaching and festivals to develop squads and teams for the event.
