Five Hour Offer: Sport Unlimited Activites for Disabled Young People

As part of the Government commitment to give every child and young person aged between 5 and 19 the chance to do 5 hours of sport a week Bucks Sport has been invited by Sport England and the Youth Sports Trust to be a ‘trailblazer’ Partnership for the roll out of the Sport Unlimited (formerly Extending Activities) programme for the South East. The programme is for 3 years from 2008-2011.

We have secured some funding through the Sport Unlimited programme to offer young people with disabilities the chance to take part in after school activities and community based sports clubs.

Funding Available:

We have funding for Special Schools or Schools with SEN units to enable them to run afterschool or lunchtime coaching sessions for their pupils.

We have funding for youth clubs, groups and organisation who are inclusive of or work specifically for young people with disabilities to enable them to run sports activities as part of their existing sessions.

There is also funding to support and develop the existing Multi Sports Clubs in the county and to develop new clubs in the community.  We are currently looking to identify sites to host these clubs which will include Multi-skills clubs for younger children and Multi Sports clubs for older children.

If you would be interested in being involved in this scheme please contact Patricia Moynihan at Bucks Sport on 01296 585489 or email pmoynihan[at]buckssport.org
