A total of 50 young people with Severe Learning Disabilities took part in a variety of different sports activities at the disability sport festival held on the 21st November at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.
The event attracted special schools from all over the county. The students were able to take part in Multi-skills, Sportshall Athletics, Table top games, Boccia, New Age Kurling, Tennis and Tri Golf.
For the coaches taking the sessions it was a learning curve adapting activities to include the range of abilities within the groups.
The day was supported by HSLA students from Buckingham school who did a fantastic job leading some of the activities and encouraging the participants considering it was their first experience of working with disabled young people.
The next disability sport event will be the Primary Schools Multi-skills Festival on the 6th February 2008.
