Richard Baker

Richard is a keen, and still active, sportsman, playing tennis, squash and cricket for Farnham Common Sports Club, where he lives.

For the last 12 years he has been on the committee of the club, the last 6 as chairman. In the last 6 years, the club has transformed itself thanks to a successful development programme which spent nearly £450,000 (of which £200,000 came from Sport England) and through the actions of many individuals who have helped the club in so many ways from coaching to administration.  The most satisfying aspect of the work is the growth in youth sport in rugby, cricket and tennis.

He also performed a practical role and helped oversee the implementation the outsourcing of the international payments back office of JP Morgan Frankfurt and the transfer of securities processing by Schroder’s in London.

Prior to joining Chase in 1996 he worked for 10 years in international sales and marketing roles in the computing industry for Unisys and ICL.  He has also worked in the ceramics industry, the glass industry, in overseas battery production and refinery construction!

He has an honours degree in Chemistry from Oxford and a MBA from INSEAD, France.
