Simon Munn was born on 31st of january 1968 and currently lives in AYlesbury , Bucks .With four Paralympic Games, Paralympic silver and bronze and numerous world and European medals under his belt, 40-year-old Simon Munn is certainly the veteran of the recently selected men’s wheelchair basketball team for Beijing.
ParalympicsGB named the men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball teams for this summer’s Paralympic Games and despite the inclusion of several debutants for this summer’s Games, there are also a number of familiar faces. Among the veterans of the GB squads is 40-year-old Simon Munn.
When the Staffordshire-based athlete boards the plan to Beijing this summer he will be travelling to his fifth Paralympic Games, having taken up the sport when he was just 22.
Looking back over a career that spans16 years there will be plenty of highs and lows for Munn; Most recently his team won silver at the European championships to secure GB’s berth at the Beijing Games and he was shortly after recognised for his achievements at the British Wheelchair Sport Awards where he won the outstanding male achievement accolade.
Not only has the standard of wheelchair basketball - one of the most widely recognised and popular of the Paralympic sports - developed considerably, so has the movement as a whole and Munn is one of a generation of athletes who will have seen this play-out over the last two decades.
