Nicola Saunders
4 x 400m Relay, 400m
Nicola Saunders was born in High Wycombe in June 1982. She currently lives in Amersham, Bucks . She trains in Windsor and Slough where her club is . Nicola fulfilled her early promise and left behind years of injury issues when she had a breakthrough year in 2005 returning to action after joining new coach Tony Lester
Despite excellent progress over the hurdles, a back problem means she is now concentrating on flat running and the new focus showed in 2007 when she took 0.51 off Katharine Merry’s British record with 50.02 for a brilliant European Indoor gold.
In 2007 Nicola claimed silver and bronze medals at the World Athletics Championships in the 400m and 4 x 400m relay respectively, but an injury interupted season in 2008 meant that Nicola could not repeat this feat at the Beijing Olympic Games where she finished fourth in the Semi FInal.
In 2009 Nicola returned to the track and competed for the first time at 800m a distance many pundits believe may offer the best opportunities for success in London 2012. For further details about Nicola's career visit
