Inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Community Games draws on the London 2012 legacy to bring communities together to enjoy sporting and cultural activities. These events are taking place up and down the country and, with over 30 taking place in Bucks and MK in 2012, we're hoping for a blossoming effect this year in 2013. ...more

The Olympic and Paralympic Games are about more than sport. The vision of the founder of the modern games, Pierre de Courbertin, was to create an international festival of sport, art and education. This idea was based on the original Greek Olympics which celebrated mind, body and spirit. Until 1948, medals were awarded for sculpture, music, literature and art.
