Exercise Referral
What is the Active: MK Exercise Referral Scheme (AMKERS)?
If you have been inactive for a long time or have a pre-existing medical condition and are worried about exercising, the Active MK Exercise Referral Scheme (AMKERS) can help.  The scheme allows health professionals to refer suitable patients to gyms across MK, to undertake a tailor-made programme of activity to help improve their health.

How do I get involved?
If you visit your GP, practice nurse, stop smoking advisor or physiotherapist, they can refer you to the scheme.

When
The programme lasts for 12 weeks with 2 - 3 one hour sessions per week. Over this period you will be given an initial health assessment, a personal programme tailored to your needs, and a final assessment at the end of the programme, in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Cost
Attendees pay between £2.20 - £5 for each session and there are no gym contracts or membership fees, so it is very affordable, even for people on a budget.

What next?
After you have finished the 12 week scheme you can either decide to join the gym you have been attending or participate in some Reactivate MK activities.
