David Lloyd Redway runners doing great work for beginner runners!

David Lloyd Redway Runners started a Thursday evening 10 week beginners course 2 weeks ago and have been amazed by the interest – each session had over 30 people attending!

The club which has grown from just 12 members to January 2011 to over 250 in a little over a year, they now take part in many runs across the UK and have two trips abroad each year.   They decided to set up beginner courses at the start of the year after support from the Run England running activator for Buckinghamshire.  The club trained a number of leaders to support new runners into their club and after a successful morning course decided to also run an evening course.

The aim of each course is for all runners to all able to complete the MK 5k parkrun by the end of the 10 weeks.  The great thing about the club is the support from other members.  At the end of their last beginner’s course current members of the club each budded up with one of the beginners and ran the parkrun with them which really helped their confidence.

The courses are led my leader Nicky Double who at the weekend completed her first marathon in Milton Keynes.  She took up running 3 years ago using the programme she now uses for her beginners so is a great role model!

To join David Lloyd Redway Runners you do not need to be a member of David Lloyd and more information on the club is available at www.Redwayrunners.com.
