South Bucks has a population of over 63,000 people of different ages and cultures. Accordingly the area provides for a wide variety of leisure needs with over 100 local sports and arts groups alone. Young people are a key focus of the Councils services and the sports and arts development team aim to provide a comprehensive programme of activities such as after school clubs, community clubs and holiday programmes through partnership work with organisations such as Bucks Sport.
Evreham Sports Centre and the Beacon Centre, run by Nexus Community on behalf of South Bucks District Council, both offer holiday programmes, for children aged 5 to 12 years old. These activities run every day of the holidays throughout the year. Children can be booked on per session or for the whole day.
The Council, in partnership with Nexus, also has Play Rangers to help provide children up to 12 years old with the opportunity to play in a safe environment in local parks and open spaces throughout South Bucks. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Play Rangers are there to encourage old fashioned unstructured play in children during their leisure time, after school and in the holidays and there is no charge or registration.
There are no swimming pools in South Bucks, however discounted swimming is available at Chalfont Leisure Centre, Chiltern Pools and Chesham Leisure Centre for holders of the Nexus Community Leisure Card.
