The final between MK United and Speedline brought the 2 form teams of the competition head to head for the MK title. United batted first posting 231. Big hitting, a few dropped catches and some interesting fielding from Speedline meant they were chasing a bigger total than they would have liked, never the less the chase was on. Speedline got off to a steady start before communication let them down and a run out started a steady fall of wickets. The stand out batsmen for Speedline Zaheer hit out in an attempt to chase the total down finishing just 1 short of his century and hitting the first home run of the MK league (12 runs for hitting last ball of innings for 6!) but it was all in vain as Speedline fell short finishing on 204. That just left Arshad Mahmood MK United skipper to lift the trophy in a well attended presentation in the bar!
Both MK United and Speedline Superstars will now compete in the regional competition with the chance of moving forward to play for £2500 prize money in the England Finals.
Throughout the season results and individual players stats have been loaded onto the interacive website allowing players to compare their performances and rankings with others in the MK league and around the world adding to the experience.
Next year’s Milton Keynes Last Man Stands will have 2 leagues: Along with the Monday Night League we ran this year we are additionally going to run a social/corporate league for those looking for a good game with emphasis on bringing friends/colleagues together for a hit (still in it to win it obviously!).
