More than 100 young people with disabilities came together on Friday 4 May at Stantonbury Campus Leisure Centre, Milton Keynes for a Playground to Podium sports event. Selected by their schools, parents or careers to attend, in recognition of their higher ability in school sport and physical education, these young people took part in a range of sports including athletics, football table tennis, wheelchair basketball and swimming. Representatives of the National Governing Bodies for each sport came to assess the young people, with several being selected for a regional squad and many more encouraged to join their local club.  ...more

MK clubs and community organisations have received £195,400 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund, which is part of the £135 million Places People Play legacy programme that is bringing the magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into communities across the country.
