The objects of the William Hardings charity are the provision of almshouses; educational funding for persons under 25 and relief in need. Grants are made to assist young persons in education, including at an individual level, scholarships, maintenance allowances, travel awards and grants for equipment.
At a wider level, grants are made to the LEA for Aylesbury schools to fund equipment in addition to that which can be provided by the authority. The charity also provides relief in need and for the general benefit of Aylesbury residents. The grants are only for residents of Aylesbury Town.
