The search for new Lloyds TSB Local Heroes begins. Do you know them?

Lloyds TSB funds 250 emerging young sportspeople across Britain each year, in the run up to London 2012 and beyond.

Local Heroes already perform at top GB or European level within their age group, but may not have not yet made their 'breakthrough' performance into senior competition.

Athletes are invited to become Lloyds TSB Local Heroes in April each year, and initial selection by SportsAid starts right now from the nominations eligible for an award.

To be eligible, applicants are identified and nominated by their National Governing Bodies of Sport, based on their talent and sporting results. Applicants need to meet the following criteria:

· Performance: Member of the GB/National team or squad member or be age-group ranked in the top 10 in the UK for individual sports.

· Location: Athletes must live and train in the UK for the majority of the year

· Funding: Athletes should not be in receipt of any other funding such as Lottery award.
