Since the International Olympic Committee announced that the 2012 Olympic Games would be coming to London, the development of coaching in the UK has never been more important and apparent!
Shortly after the announcement, sports coach UK developed and launched the UK Coaching Framework, an 11 year action plan for the development of coaching in the UK which aims to make the UK world leading in this sector by 2016. The UK Coaching Framework has been developed as a guideline or blueprint for National Governing Bodies of sport to shape their development models and approach to coaching within their specific sport.

With the UK Coaching Framework in place, Sport England decided to show their comittment to coaching by investing in a national network of Coaching Development Managers to co-ordinate and manage the extended coaching offer to County Sports Partnerships (CSPs). The extended coaching offer is an addition to the core services Sport England fund the CSP to deliver on, however this is specifically related to coaching and it's development within each CSP area, ours being Bucks and Milton Keynes. The key area of development for the Coaching Development Manager, is to develop and maintain a Coaching System Support Network (CSSN), a group of organisations who have some involvement in coaching, comitted to the development of coaching and the coaching workforce at a local level. Having this network approach will bring sustainability and consistency to the way in which we support and develop our coaching workforce across Bucks and Milton Keynes.
